I started at St. Catherine University in August of 2019, and I feel like I have learned a decade’s amount of knowledge working here. The work done in the Marketing and Communications department of St. Catherine University is on par with a small agency. We have dozens of clients around the university, from Alumni Relations and Admissions, to the Office of the President and University Events. All of them come to MarComm for help.
That is where we shine, in my opinion. We have several dedicated writers, several designers, a social media specialist, digital marketing strategist, project managers, etc. to keep the team afloat. But from all of this work, comes experience. No two clients are the same, and we would be working with several at a time. I would have several big projects for different clients at a time, all at different stages. The key is good organization and project management!
My main source of work is print materials and digital media images. We make a lot of brochures, print ads, sell sheets, postcards, and more. I work closely with my social media specialist and web developer to determine needs of specific projects and size images proportionate to the platform.
With the Covid-19 Pandemic, we had to react very quickly, but we also needed to be very clear in our design. I was tasked with creating the look and design for all signage, flyers, floor stickers and anything else we needed.
I have also been able to expand my areas of design and work on a few different videos, mostly in Adobe After Effects. I have learned a lot about animating and the overall flow in videos like this.
